Eian Burton Biography: Age, Career and LeVar Burton’s Son

Eian Burton is the son of actor, director and television host LeVar Burton. Born in 1980, he belongs to a family whose work spans education, television and storytelling. His father is known for playing Kunta Kinte in Roots, portraying Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and hosting Reading Rainbow.

Although his family connections attract interest, Eian’s professional background includes teaching. LeVar has included his son among the educators in the Burton family in interviews. That connection offers a useful starting point for understanding Eian beyond his relationship with a familiar television personality.

This Eian Burton biography examines his age, early background, family and documented connection to education. Contemporary news coverage establishes his birth date, while later interviews provide context about his adult professional life. Details about his exact workplace, qualifications and personal circumstances require stronger evidence than the claims repeated across online celebrity profiles.

Eian Burton Profile Summary Table

The birth date in this summary comes from a June 1983 United Press International article. That report identified LeVar as the father of a boy named Eian and gave the child’s birthday as June 23, 1980. A February 1984 UPI report identified his mother as Pamela Smith.

The career entry reflects his father’s descriptions rather than an independently established employment record. It supports identifying teaching as part of Eian’s background, but does not establish his present employer, classroom assignment or specialist credentials.

Eian Burton Early Life and Background

Eian Burton was born on June 23, 1980. He turned 46 in June 2026. His birth came after LeVar’s breakthrough performance in the 1977 television miniseries Roots, but before the beginning of Reading Rainbow in 1983 and Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.

Contemporary reporting about Eian’s childhood appeared in connection with the legal establishment of his parentage. UPI’s June 1983 coverage described LeVar taking steps to establish that he was Eian’s father. These historical reports help establish basic biographical facts; they do not provide a complete account of Eian’s upbringing or later family relationships. www.upi.com

Eian’s younger sister, Mica Burton, was born in 1994. A 2023 Fatherly feature noted that Eian was 14 when LeVar welcomed his daughter. Their shared father connects them to the same family history, although their individual professional backgrounds should be considered separately.

Mica’s acting work includes playing Ensign Alandra La Forge in the third season of Star Trek: Picard. The character is the daughter of Geordi La Forge, played by LeVar. Official Star Trek coverage discussed the real father and daughter working together, providing a documented example of the family’s connection to entertainment.

Education also forms part of Eian’s family background. His paternal grandmother, Erma, was an educator, and LeVar has spoken about other relatives working in the field. This history provides context for Eian’s occupation, although it does not establish where he attended school or how he decided to become a teacher.

Eian Burton Career and Professional Journey

The strongest direct support for Eian Burton’s teaching background comes from LeVar’s interviews. In a 2021 conversation with GQ, LeVar named his son among the teachers in his family. He included his mother, older sister and nieces in the same description, placing teaching within a multigenerational family tradition.

LeVar returned to that subject in a 2023 interview with Fatherly. He again included his son among the family’s educators and described his own entertainment work as another branch of its educational activity. The two interviews support a consistent connection between Eian and teaching across those years.

Some online biographies describe Eian as a special education teacher or basketball coach. However, those descriptions should not be treated as an established current career record without an employer biography, professional profile or direct interview supporting them. The available interviews establish the broader occupation more clearly than a particular specialism or position.

A detailed professional timeline would need dates for training, qualifications, appointments and subsequent roles. The sources used here do not establish those milestones. It would therefore be inaccurate to assign Eian a degree, teaching certificate, length of service or current school based on his surname or family connections.

The connection between teaching and his father’s literacy work remains relevant context. Reading Rainbow introduced children to books through television, while teaching involves educational work in a different setting. Their careers share an association with learning, but Eian should not be credited with participating in his father’s programmes without evidence of that involvement.

Eian Burton Major Achievements and Recognition

There is no reliable basis in the sources used for this article to list individual awards, major institutional honours or measurable professional results for Eian Burton. His father’s acknowledgment of his teaching background is biographical evidence, rather than a formal award or an assessment of his classroom performance.

This distinction matters when describing achievement. A teaching role does not, by itself, establish claims about particular student outcomes, educational initiatives or community programmes. Those accomplishments would require specific records or attributable accounts before they could form part of a factual biography.

The Burton family’s entertainment recognition also belongs to the individuals who earned it. LeVar’s acting and broadcasting career explains much of the interest in Eian’s name, while Mica’s screen credits document her own work. Neither provides evidence of an acting career, entertainment award or production credit for Eian.
